C&S Wholesale Grocers Prefers a Future with
NCR
C&S Wholesale Grocers has beenproviding first-class warehousing and
distribution to grocery chains and large independent grocers
throughout the United States for over 85 years. Being able to
deliver results quickly and efficiently makes C&S Wholesale
Grocers a preferred grocery wholesaler. Helping to ensure C&S1
ability to deliver these results makes NCR a preferred solution
provider.
As an innovative and fast-paced company, C&S decided to sign up NCR
as a preferred vendor and NCR Advanced Checkout Solution (ACS)
as a preferred solution. "Our decision to support ACS as one of
our preferred software solutions was based on our relationship
with NCR," says Quentin Dees, retail services manager, western
region, C&S. "The products that NCR releases are usually
outstanding and I see the ACS product evolving into one of
those."
C&S works with the ACS solution at a store level, but interfaces it
with back-office applications Currently, they support over 100
back-office systems of independent retailers. "We are excited
about the continuing development of the software. ACS has a
great user interface for the checker and I'm impressed with its
ease of operation. Because of the ease of use and speed, there
is less training time and checkers are faster and more
efficient."
In addition to seeing great potential with ACS, Dees also speaks
highly of NCR FastLane™ self-checkout solution. "C&S is also
working with NCR on introducing NCR Fasttane™ self-checkout to
their independent grocers."
Food 4 Less Gets More With ACS-IR
When
Food 4 Less was opening a new location in Fresno, California, they
started looking into new POS systems. Being a seasoned veteran in
the grocery business, Food 4 Less store director AJ. Alonzo had seen
many systems, but never anything like NCR's Advanced Checkout
Solution for Independent Retailers
"This system does everything an independent grocer needs and more.
It makes everyday information we need easily accessible." From usage
to tracking registers and item movement, ACS-IR allows Alonzo to do
things he didn't think possible.
"We're able to backtrack cashiers' productivity to six months ago.
Cashiers like to see their progress." And, an increase in cashier
productivity seems inevitable with ACS-IR. Used on NCR DynaKey™, the
advanced user interface is easier for cashiers to see and use. With
concepts like multi-pathing and post-item modification, cashiers can
operate how they intuitively think, resulting in increased
confidence and productivity.
The Web-enabled Customer Information Display allows customers to
easily view their transaction information. "We've gotten a lot of
positive feedback from our customers. They really like the big, bold
letters and clarity of the screen." Alonzo also appreciates that the
register tape doesn't print until the transaction is complete, so
voids don'l print on the receipt. "That's a neat benefit. Customers
used to think they were getting charged twice for one item."
Overall, Alonzo says ACS-IR is the most user-friendly system he's
ever seen. Food 4 Less is in the process of rolling out the solution
in their five other locations.
SNCR California, an NCR business partner, presented the system to
Food 4 Less knowing their needs and assuring they'd work closely
with the grocer through installation and training. According to
Alonzo, they set up three hour-long training sessions, but only
needed one, "It's that simple and easy. And, after the session, SNCR
had three individuals remain at the store on standby to make sure
everything went smoothly and to answer any questions. We have a
unique relationship with SNCR, They've done an exceptional job
answering our questions and resolving any issues'
